We are nearing the end of this school year. I want to thank every person who is a part of the OVCS community for helping us move forward together through the adversity of these past weeks. Parents, students, and teachers have all worked hard to advance learning despite the circumstances. And most importantly, we are employing the fruits of the Spirit to love one another, be kind to one another, and be patient with one another as we encourage one another with God’s help.
Academic packet drop off as well as desk and locker clean out will be held on Thursday, May 21st and Friday, May 22nd. In order to maintain social distancing and keep everyone as safe as possible, we are scheduling times for families to enter the building in alphabetical order using last names. The schedule is as follows:
Families whose last names begin with A through D—May 21st 9:00am-12:00pm
Families whose last names begin with E through H—May 21st 12:00-3:00pm
Families whose last names begin with I through P—May 22nd 9:00am-12:00pm
Families whose last names begin with R through Y—May 22nd 12:00-3:00pm
Grades for the 4th nine weeks will be weighted much differently (that is, much more generously) than the previous three nine weeks. However, all work must be completed and turned in or the student will receive an “incomplete” on their grade card. All “incompletes” must be made up before grades can be tallied and students cleared to the next grade.
In addition, all sports uniforms, text books, and computers/tablets are to be turned in during the drop off times.
Report cards and academic certificates can be picked up at the school on June 30th.
In coordination with the seniors and their parents, OVCS has tentatively scheduled an in-person graduation on July 18, 2020 at 2:00pm. This of course is contingent on an easing of restrictions that would permit such a gathering. More will be published as we move on into the summer.
Finally, OVCS has a new website. We will be posting information concerning the school both on the new website (www.ovcs.net) and the school’s Facebook page.
In closing, our theme for this year taken from Colossians 3:12-15 seems to be fitting. May these verses be our guide as we continue to walk with each other through uncertain days.
Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.
